This chapter moved me the most because of how the author turns personal crisis into collective healing. The decision to serve young people despite inner turmoil is deeply inspiring. The metaphor of “depots”: hedgehog, service, healing, beautifully captures the cycles of growth and self-discovery. Reading this chapter left me thinking that clear purpose gives pain meaning, true leadership is born out of empathy and experience, and that when we can channel our wounds into service, and through serving others, we often find our own salvation.
