It exposes how colonial legacies, religion, and social hierarchies have shaped how we see ourselves and each other. I appreciate how the author uses her own Creole and British experiences to illustrate the universality of prejudice. Her reflection on “the British Protestant mind” was eye-opening, showing how deeply ingrained moral binaries shape societal behaviour. We must understand our history to rewrite it. Liberation begins with recognising how culture scripts our roles, and then consciously rewriting that script.
